Hi! I’m Aims, the founder of Indy Bindy.
I’ve loved fabric and sewing for as long as I can remember. When I was two years old, my mum would make matching, frilly-bottomed outfits for me and my besties. I watched her over the years and started my own sewing journey!
I’m an Aussie based in Tokyo. I first came to Japan as a 16 year old exchange student. Little did I know that was the start of a life-long love of my second home! Japan would draw me back time and again.
When my second son, Indy, was born in Tokyo I started my sewing business. Since they were born at the same time, the store got his nickname- Indy Bindy!
It’s the go-to place to dive deeper into your creativity.
I support you in your creative journey in a number of different ways. The Indy Bindy Sewciety is my private sewing community where sewists share their love of sewing and connect and grow together. My shop sells indie sewing patterns that you can download and start sewing immediately. I co-host the Colourful Journey Tokyo Craft Tours and Retreats where you get to experience Japan’s traditional crafts on a level you can’t access anywhere else. And I also run a mastermind for creative business owners who want to build a strategic and sustainable business that supports them and the life they want to live.
I’m so happy that you’re here and I’d love to get to know you too. Please drop me a message here.

Love love this community. Aims has amazing energy, is so inspiring and talented. Since joining Indy Bindy, I have tackled sewing a pair of linen trousers which I would never have done. Picked up numerous tips and tricks from the Sewciety calls. I highly recommend this sewing sewciety.
It inspires me, encourages me and keeps me accountable. Too often I let everyone else's needs get in the way of me doing something for myself. I love this, its making me take time for myself and for something I love. (Also helping me sew down a stash that I have collected over 25 years)
The biggest thing for me is that I’ve gained confidence in my abilities and choices - I never thought that sewing could lead to personal growth! Interacting with this lovely community has made me be kinder to myself which is so freeing.
I loved the local knowledge of our hosts, the types of activities and local artisans we met, the balance between group time and the time to wander the streets, the restaurants that were chosen, the lack of karaoke 😉, just being in Japan… the cultural immersion and the space to be crafty without apologies, and meeting some lovely like-minded people!
This is the best decision I’ve ever made for my creative self. Each day is filled with wonder on this exquisitely curated colourful journey
I liked all the workshops. Being able to try new crafts that are traditional to japan. The experiences gave me an insight to the history of the craft and the hands on parts allowed me to practice what they were teaching. Being able to take my crafts back home with me leaves this everlasting memories that just continue.
reminiscing about the experience, not only what I learned but the special camaraderie. Thanks so much to our very own Victoria and Aims… you were nothing short of superb leaders… Filled with an abundance of knowledge, fun, frivolity, magic and more.
